How we engage, their role in value creation and how we address these interests

Strategic Pillars
Material Matters
Their material interests
  • Highly competent trainees and members
  • Relevant programmes to provide a skills pipeline
  • Members trained for the future/impact of the 4IR
  • Technical support and query resolution
How we engaged
  • Engagements have all been constructive and forward looking. Notably the case of ALF and SPF and the many conversations leading to CAQ
How we addressed these interests in 2024
  • Met with the South African Auditing Profession Trust Initiative (SAAPTI) to discuss the plan for a Centre for Audit Quality (CAQ)
  • SAICA has firm representatives on all structures
Risks / opportunities
  • Trainees not well placed due to lack of support
  • Identify future needs to remain relevant
Strategic response
  • Transformation issues discussions
  • Audit reform initiatives
  • Centre for Audit Quality
Key metrics and objectives tracked to monitor value delivered
  • Firms engagement score = 63% (FY23: 90%)
  • The decline in the engagement score with firms can be attributed to challenges experienced in public sector-focused training, technical support and guidance for training offices. Additionally, firms face compliance issues with trainee requirements and difficulties related to the ADP programme for members starting their own practices. SAICA is exploring ways to enhance support for firms in these areas.
  • Improvement required
